Tip 2: Remove Odors from Plastic Containers with Mustard or Coffee
Plastic containers easily absorb food odors, which is why they are often discarded too soon. Fortunately, unpleasant smells can be removed with simple absorbents.
Pour a few tablespoons of mustard powder into the container, close the lid, and shake well. Then wash with dish soap and rinse with warm water.
Ground coffee works just as effectively. Add a few spoonfuls to the container, close the lid tightly, and leave it for 24 hours. Alternatively, coat the container with coffee grounds and place it in the freezer overnight. Both methods help eliminate lingering odors.
Tip 3: Clean Glass Lids with Hydrogen Peroxide
Dirty glass lids, especially under the rim, can be difficult to clean. Hydrogen peroxide is a simple and effective solution.
Pour hydrogen peroxide onto the lid and leave it for 5–10 minutes while it breaks down grease and grime. Rinse with warm water.
For tougher dirt, mix 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide with 2 tablespoons of baking soda to form a thick paste. Pour boiling water over the lid to soften the dirt, apply the paste, leave it for 15 minutes, scrub gently, and rinse with hot water.
